A good office fragrance has one non negotiable requirement. It has to stay in your own space. Everything else is preference.

The rules that actually matter

Sweetness is the first thing to control. Gourmand fragrances built on vanilla, praline and caramel are the ones people notice from across a room, and in an enclosed office that becomes a problem within an hour. Save them for evenings.

A word of caution on Mancera Cedrat Boise. It is a superb fragrance and a lot of people buy it for work, but it is far stronger than most people expect. Lemon and blackcurrant over a dense musk and sandalwood base, and it projects hard for hours. One spray, on the chest, under a shirt. At that dose it is excellent. At three it is a problem.

The soft floral

Mon Guerlain Sparkling Bouquet is light where the original is rich. Lavender, neroli and bergamot open it, jasmine and peony carry the middle, and the vanilla and sandalwood base is restrained enough to stay professional. It is pretty without being loud, which is exactly the balance an office needs.

The clean musk

What to leave at home
